MIDDLE SCHOOL MENTORING PROGRAM TAKES ROOT
A new ministry began in January 2007 through the Senior Adult Ministries (SAM). Nitschmann Middle School initiated a pilot mentoring program for 7th grade students who were considered to be “at risk” by their 6th grade teachers. These students were not performing academically to their abilities. The hope of the program was that a “mentor friend” relationship for these students could help in motivating them.

The pilot program results were wonderful. The administrators, teachers, mentors and students were pleased with the improved report cards and attitudes. The program will be adjusted and expanded to about 35 students this coming year.

Mentors give 1 ˝ hours per week in a joint mentor-student class period, with interactive activities under school guidance. If you feel God is calling you to a one-on-one service opportunity, please call Russ Grander, 610-691-6064 for more information.

HI-NEIGHBORS — Join us Monday mornings from September through May for warm fellowship and excellent informational and educational programs given by a variety of speakers! Coffee hour is between 9:30-10 a.m. and between programs. Program 1 begins at 10 a.m.; Program 2 at 11:15 a.m.
